What is the Online BLS for Healthcare Provider course?

This course allows you to complete everything online except the short skills evaluation. After you complete the hands-on skills evaluation with an AHA BLS Instructor, you will earn the official BLS for Healthcare Provider card from the American Heart.

Who qualifies to take this course?

Anyone! This course is now available for Initial or Renewal.

Is this program just for renewal?

No, this program can now be used for initials as well as renewals, even for those without prior CPR training.

Is a skills evaluation required?

Yes. In order to earn an AHA BLS card, you must demonstrate the required skills to a American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor.

How long do I have after I complete the online program to complete the skills evaluation?

You are allowed up to 60 days to take the skills evaluation.

What does my computer need in order for me to take this course?

• Browser: MS Internet Explorer 5+ /Netscape 6+ (Very Common)
• Java and JavaScript–enabled (Usually pre-installed)
• QuickTime Plugin 4.0+ (Usually pre-installed)

How does the process work?

1. Sign up and complete all checkpoints.
2. Complete the written exam and print certificate.
3. Present certificate verifying completion to an AHA BLS Instructor doing the evaluation.

Upon completion, an official American Heart "BLS for Healthcare Provider" card will be issued to you.
